AJAX, a world premiere comedy by Habib Yazdi and directed by Kareem Fahmy, is based on the true events of the 1953 CIA-orchestrated coup in Tehran that overthrew the Iranian Prime Minister and installed the last Shah of Iran. The play follows how the grandson of Teddy Roosevelt exploited egos and cultural customs for economic gain, told through a comedic lens designed to disarm audiences and invite engagement with history and politics. Featuring a pool on stage — complete with an actor portraying the pool itself, played by Ben Farha — and theatrical magic designed by consultant Steve Cuiffo, the production stars Amin El Gamal, Shayan Hooshmand, Andy Ingalls, and Gordon Reinhart. AJAX runs at Boise Contemporary Theater April 25 through May 9, 2026.
