The rollicking, joyous music of Fats Waller will have you singing and dancing in the aisles during our season opener! Equal parts pianist, singer, songwriter and comedian, Fats Waller was one of the seminal figures of 20th century jazz and Tin Pan Alley, with such standards as “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Keepin’ Out of Mischief Now,” and “I’ve Got a Feeling I’m Falling” to his name. Five top-notch performers will give you an evening of non-stop, high-energy singing and dancing while celebrating one of America’s greatest artists!

The Company will feature Erica Richardson as “Nell,” Katrina Lauren McGraw as “Armelia,” Ashley D. Gallo as “Charlaine,” Aris-Allen Roberson as “Andre” and Branden 'Noel' Thomas as “Ken.”

In addition to Mr. Polk and Mr. Dobrusky, the creative team will include Brian Watson as Set Designer, Maxx Kurzunski as Lighting Designer, Bethany Deal as Costume Designer and Kris Vecere as Stage Manager.

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for the Bay Area premiere of Groundhog Day the Musical, the hit Broadway comedy adapted from the timeless Bill Murray film. Danny Rubin, co-writer of the 1993 film, wrote the book, with music and lyrics supplied by Tony-winner Tim Minchin (Matilda). Susi Damilano will direct the Playhouse production, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer.

Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. 42nd Street Moon's production of HOT MIKADO runs from September 25 – October 13, 2019 and will perform at San Francisco's Gateway Theatre (215 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94111). What is the history of 42nd Street Moon ?

42nd Street Moon, was founded in 1993 in San Francisco by Artistic Directors Greg MacKellan and Stephanie Rhoads. At the time, the company’s mission was to present staged concert performances of lesser-known and “forgotten” Broadway musicals of the 1920s through the 1970s. Actors held scripts in-hand throughout the performance, usually accompanied by a single piano, and there were no sets or elaborate costumes. The company continued in this concert format for 15 years, however, in 2008 we put down the scripts and added costumes, choreography, and full blocking. As the company looks towards its 30th Anniversary, 42nd Street Moon honors the past, present, and future of musical theatre, and looks forward to continuing to celebrate the vitality and vibrancy of this art form. As a professional company, 42nd Street Moon is on Tier 4 of the Bay Area Theatre Agreement of Actors’ Equity Association.
