Baby It's You 2011

About the Album: The original cast recording of the new Broadway musical BABY IT'S YOU! Inspired by the true story of Florence Greenberg, the woman who in the late 1950's took the male-dominated music industry by storm, BABY IT'S YOU! is conceived by Floyd Mutrux, directed by Floyd Mutrux and Sheldon Epps, and written by Tony nominated book writers Mutrux and Colin Escott, the team behind Broadway's MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, with musical supervision and arrangements by Rahn Coleman, orchestrations by Don Sebesky and musical direction by Shelton Becton. Richard Perry is one of the most successful producers in musical history. Over his 46 year career he has produced classic albums with Rod Stewart, Ray Charles, Pointer Sisters, Barbra Sreisand, Carly Simon, Ringo Starr, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Nilsson, The Temptations, Fats Domino, and Ella Fitzgerald, amongst others. For the last decade Perry has collaborated with Rod Stewart on a series of albums of timeless standards called "The Great American Songbooks". Perry has had albums in the top ten in every decade since the 60's. Rahn Coleman's artistry is rarely matched in all aspects of musical direction and vocal performance. He has served as musical director, conductor and pianist for: Ray Charles Live, Play On!, Purlie, Blues in the Night, The Wiz and many others. Classically trained under the renowned teacher, Nadia Boulangier, Rahn has conducted and arranged for Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Barry White, Michael Feinstein, Sarah Vaughn, The Philadelphia Philharmonic and the Clinton Presidential Inaugural Orchestras. Packed with doo-wop, pop and rock `n' roll classic hits such as "Dedicated To The One I Love," "Soldier Boy," "Duke Of Earl," "He's So Fine," "I Say A Little Prayer," "It's My Party," "Louie Louie," "Mamma Said," "Shout," "Tonight's The Night," "I Met Him On A Sunday," "Rockin' Robin," "Twist And Shout" and many more, BABY IT'S YOU! stars Tony Award winner Beth Leavel as Florence Greenberg, the woman who changed the recording world forever when she created Scepter Records. Before Motown and the British Invasion, the most famous woman in music you have never heard of, Greenberg, launched the careers of some of the biggest recording stars of the era including the greatest girl group of all times. After discovering The Shirelles at her daughter's high school in Passaic, New Jersey, Greenberg packed the girls in her car, drove across the George Washington Bridge to New York City, and embarked on a trailblazing journey from New Jersey housewife to record mogul
