Tickets go on sale this week for some of the best entertainment events of the fall season. Beginning Friday, July 17, fans can secure their seats for eight musical and comedy acts coming to the McGlohon Theatre & Stage Door Theater.

Through an innovative partnership with The Comedy Zone, the Center will be presenting some of the country's funniest comedians live on stage. The season kicks off with John Heffron and Ralphie May, but also features Craig Shoemaker and the return engagement of NC native Jon Reep, who sold out two shows last year.

Music lovers are in for an exciting fall with concerts by Saffire the Uppity Blues Women, Chris Smither and John McCutcheon. These events are presented in partnership with MaxxMusic and Visulite Theatre.

Tickets will also go on sale for the season's first two monthly Poetry Slams Aug. 21 and Sept. 18. These events are hosted by SlamCharlotte, Charlotte's own two-time defending national championship team of spoken word poetry, and are planned for the third Friday of each month throughout the year at the McGlohon Theatre.

Single tickets will be available at the Center box office in the Belk Theater, by phone at 704-372-1000 and online at www.BlumenthalCenter.org and www.CarolinaTix.org.

Special group rates also are available for many shows. Groups may purchase tickets to all Center-sponsored shows prior to public on-sales. Group minimums begin as low as 10 for many performances. For more information, call 704-379-1380 or visit www.BlumenthalCenter.org/groups.
