South Stream Productions to Present Harold Pinter's THE CARETAKER
South Stream Productions announces the production of THE CARETAKER, by Harold Pinter. THE CARETAKER, Pinter's most celebrated quirky comedy, will open Friday, January 2, 2015 at Common Ground Theatre in Durham and will run Thursday -- Sunday through January 18.
Variously described as "tragi-comic" and "darkly funny," The Caretaker is commonly acknowledged as one of playwright Harold Pinter's masterpieces. It is a richly poetic work about three men in a room who are all sustained by individual pipe-dreams and hopeless illusions and at the same time are engaged in a battle for power. The play takes place in a cluttered upper bedroom of a row house. Through what the characters say, and more importantly what they don't say--what they avoid saying, .the play explores the relationship of a
pair of divergent brothers through the appearance of a homeless stranger. The play explores the themes of isolation and the desire for connection through the relationships between the three characters.
Directed by Jaybird O'Berski, the cast features Brook North as Aston, John Honeycutt as Davies, and Ryan Brock as Mick. JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell is stage manager. South Stream Productions is operated by Brook North and John Honeycutt. Previously, South Stream has presented Copenhagen and Edward Albee's Seascape.
