Raleigh Little Theatre (RLT) has announced its 2015-2016 season, which is the first planned by Patrick Torres as Artistic Director. Mr. Torres assumed this role in August 2014 after being chosen through a nationwide search process.

"I could not be more excited about the plays that we have chosen to present. These are among the finest classic and modern plays in theatre, and as a collective, they present the full range of human emotions. It is a season full of characters who seek community - some to fulfill a quest, some to tear it apart, and some who simply seek love. It is our hope that these plays will provide us with the opportunity to engage one another in deep conversation as we continue to develop our own sense of community here in the Triangle," said Mr. Torres.

The Sutton Series of classic theatre includes a modern staging of The Rivals (September) in a co-production with Actors Comedy Lab, directed by Rod Rich, featuring costumes designed by Raleigh Denim Workshop + Curatory. The series continues with two plays directed by Torres: Sweeney Todd (February 2016) and The Glass Menagerie (June 2016). Both Sweeney Todd ('88-'89) and The Glass Menagerie ('96-'97) were produced by RLT in the past, and return by popular demand.

The City Series of contemporary theater begins in August with Monty Python's SPAMALOT, directed by Torres. (The film version will be presented in the amphitheater during Summer 2015, as will three other movies. All showings will be free due to the sponsorship of Raleigh Brewing Company.) In January 2016, the series will feature Lydia Diamond's Stick Fly in an area premiere, and close with Beertown. The latter is a devised theater piece by dog and pony dc. Part civic ceremony, part theatrical pageant, and simultaneously a choose-your-own-adventure/murder-mystery dinner party, Beertown pays homage to small-town America by exploring the dynamic relationships between individuals and their community.

The Youth Series will present A Year With Frog and Toad (November), Miss Nelson is Missing (March 2016), and Charlotte's Web (April 2016). As part of RLT's commitment to connecting to school curriculum, these plays are based on award-winning children's literature. The Teens on Stage/Teens Backstage Summer Conservatory will present Runaways from July 17 - 26, 2015. Runaways, a musical by Elizabeth Swados, was developed by interviewing homeless teens.

The summer, movie-series lineup will be announced in early April, with additional information about Summer and Fall programs in RLT's Stephenson Amphitheatre.

Membership packages are now on sale and are available by visiting raleighlittletheatre.org or calling (919) 821-3111. Single tickets for the 2015-16 season will go on sale on July 1. Single tickets for the Teens-on-Stage production of Runaways will go on sale on April 1.
