"The art of losing is not hard to master - The art of losing is not hard to master." So begins one of the most profound and melancholy poems, written in 1976, the American poet Elizabeth Bishop. This is the motto of the latest show of Almada Dance Company, which invites us to reflect on the skills needed to cope with the loss, and the role of memory and the body in the process. Castro is to place the body in comparison with the mutability and precariousness of existence, resulting in a text in which the dancers move on stage as in life without an obvious narrative.
San Castro (b. 1976) graduated from the Superior School of Dance in Lisbon. It was part of the Portuguese Contemporary Dance Company and the Ballet Gulbenkian. He has worked with the Company Olga Roriz Company and Clara Andermatt. In 2015, with the play Play false, received the Award in the category Dance Authors - Best Choreography, awarded by the SPA.
The Almada Dance Company is a professional company of contemporary dance, directed by Maria Franco. It began operations in 1990 and has held various digressions, a presence at festivals in Poland, Switzerland, Brazil, China and Spain.
