The Wells Fargo Broadway In Eugene Education Fund has awarded $1,000 to Churchill High School in Eugene to support its theater education program in the 2011-12 school year.

Churchill High School is partnering with members of the West End Performing Arts Academy to produce the student-directed musical Forever Plaid. Two performances are planned for the late spring of 2012. All aspects of the production will be student directed by Joshua King under the mentoring of Al Villanueva, a community choreographer and a volunteer technical mentor.

"Wells Fargo Broadway In Eugene is committed to being a strong educational community leader in the performing arts," said Kyle Banks of Eugene, a district manager for Wells Fargo in Lane County.
"This grant is a patron-supported community outreach program providing Lane County students and teachers the opportunity to learn more about the world of theatre, dance and music," added Steve Boulay, Chief Operating Officer of MagicSpace Entertainment, which produces the series. "Wells Fargo, sponsor of the Broadway In Eugene series, generously matched each subscriber's donation to help fund this grant."

The Broadway In Eugene grant program helps schools produce their own theater, dance or music production, and/or bring in a performing arts professional for course study work. All Lane County High School students involved in a performing arts program within their school who enlisted the support of one of their principals or teachers were invited to apply for this grant.

Serving Oregonians since 1852, Wells Fargo has repeatedly been named one of the strongest supporters of arts and culture in Oregon.

The Wells Fargo Broadway In Eugene series brings high quality touring productions to the Hult Center, including Blue Man Group, My Fair Lady, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical as part of the 2011-12 season of events. For more information visit www.BroadwayInEugene.com.
