It is with mixed emotions that Third Rail Repertory Theatre's Board of Directors announces the departure of Founding Artistic Director, Scott Yarbrough. Yarbrough is leaving Third Rail after a 15-year tenure at the company. "Fifteen years is a long time in any position and the time is right for me to pursue other possibilities," said Yarbrough.
"I'm very proud of the work Third Rail has produced and the place the company holds in Portland's arts eco-system," Yarbrough continued. "It's been gratifying to experience how fully audiences will embrace challenging material if it's executed with clarity, confidence, professionalism, and an unflinching belief in the power of the story and the voice of the playwright." Longtime company member Maureen Porter, who has worked closely with Yarbrough for the last seven years, will continue to lead the company as Managing Artistic Director, a position she has held since 2016. "Maureen has an immense passion and clear vision for the company," Yarbrough said, "I look forward to witnessing her and the company's continued success." "I am heartened by the fact that Scott and I are both keen to continue as collaborators in the future," said Porter. "Our longtime working relationship has reaped many rewards, and it is exciting that Scott is looking to spread his wings so that more people can be beneficiaries of his incredible skills."Videos
