Portland Ovations has announced that they will give a free pair of tickets for the Broadway National Tour of Million Dollar Quartet to anyone that still holds a ticket stub to the August 1977 Elvis concerts that never took place at the Cumberland County Civic Center because of the superstars untimely death.

Portland Ovations is presenting Million Dollar Quartet the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll," at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. When audiences meet Elvis in Million Dollar Quartet, he is home in Memphis visiting his mother for the holidays and stops by Sun Records at the request of Sam Philips. Not long before this evening, Philips had sold Elvis' contract to the big-time label RCA as an effort to save his own label from financial distress. This is the first time Elvis sees Carl Perkins since he recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" and enjoyed chart-topping success. Million Dollar Quartet shows an early and uncertain phase in Elvis' life, which Portland Ovations knows will interest those true fans of Elvis that never were able to see him perform in Portland.

Elvis fans that still have their August 1977 Cumberland County Civic Center tickets and would like to receive a free pair of tickets to Million Dollar Quartet tonight, February 21st at Merrill Auditorium will need to bring their Elvis ticket or some proof of it to PortTIX the box office at Merrill Auditorium, 20 Myrtle Street, Portland.

Without a 1977 Elvis ticket stub, tickets for Million Dollar Quartet range from $40.50 to $63 for Ovations' Members and $45 to $70 for the general public. Million Dollar Quartet is sponsored locally by Baker Newman Noyes and media support is provided by WGME 13.
