PIPE DREAM, A Rodgers And Hammerstein Musical, Comes to Lakewood Theatre Company The Lost Treasures Collection, a series of rarely performed musical gems, is back for a eighth season at Lakewood Theatre Company. This year three musicals featuring the theme "Enchanted Evenings" with music by Richard Rodgers, will be presented in a concert/cabaret style. The second offering of the series, Pipe Dream, will have only three performances: Friday, February 16 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Lakewood's production is directed by Ron Daum and the musical director is Beth Noelle. Performances are on Lakewood's Side Door stage at Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The series sponsor is Fritz Camp, and the curatorial sponsors are Jaye W. Taylor, Rob Le Chevallier & Buckley Law P.C.

The story: Pipe Dream is the seventh musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It had its Broadway premiere on November 30, 1955. The work is based on John Steinbeck's short novel Sweet Thursday, a sequel to his novel Cannery Row. The drifters and dropouts along Cannery Row in Monterey California spring to life in this uncommon story of love and hope. When Suzy (Catherine Olson), a vagabond girl, is picked up for stealing food, she's taken in by Fauna (Paige Jones), the big-hearted Madam of the Bear Flag Café (which is no café at all). Here she meets Doc (Peter Schuyler), a carefree marine biologist, and soon romance is in the air. Rodgers & Hammerstein strike a new tone with Pipe Dream - intimate, warm and highly personal.

Lakewood's Pipe Dream cast also features Ethan LaFrance as Hazel, Jeff Ekdahl as Mac, Hillarie Hunt as Mercedes, Jesse Miller as Jim/George/Sonny/Dormandy, and Evan Tait as Ray/Joe/Singer/Johnny.

Each show in the Lost Treasures series is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. No sets, no props (free from the usual trappings of a fully-staged production). Food and beverages are available for purchase before and during the show.

Ticket prices are $20 for all seats. For additional information and tickets, call the Lakewood Box Office at (503) 635-3901 or order online at www.lakewood-center.org.

Lakewood Theatre Company's Side Door Stage is located in the Community Meeting Room at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego. Food and beverages are available to purchase before and during the show.
