Due to the overwhelming popularity of Swimming While Drowning by Emilio Rodriguez and directed by Francisco Garcia, we are remounting this production with a simplified set for two nights only. This late night event is pay what you will.

When teenager Angelo Mendez decides to leave his home out of fear of further disappointing his homophobic father, he encounters a world he was not prepared for at an LGBT homeless shelter in Los Angeles. Spoken word poetry and teen romance collide in this coming of age story as two homeless teens find inspiration to live life on their own terms.

Director Francisco Garcia elaborates, "It's a coming of age story, but it's a story that resonates with anyone. The hope is that when the show is done, this will be something you talk about. Maybe this is a community you knew nothing about, that you want to learn more about or that you feel that you want to help support."

Friday June 9, 2017 at 10:00 PM, Saturday June 10, 2017 at 10:00 PM. Milagro Theatre, 525 SE Stark Street, Portland, OR, 97214. Pay what you will.. Tickets available at milagro.org or 503-236-7253 or cash purchases at the door.
