BROADWAY IN PORTLAND Announces New Season Broadway in Portland is pleased to announce its 2018/19 Season with a schedule full of classic, familiar titles and brand-new productions.


The 2018/19 Season starts with ON YOUR FEET!, the inspiring story behind the music and inside the lives of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, pop music sensations who, in the face of adversity, found a way to end up on their feet. This is followed by one of Rodgers & Hammerstein's finest works, THE KING AND I, based on the Lincoln Center Theater production and featuring a score of beloved classics.

Next up is COME FROM AWAY, the true story of the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed a world of airline passengers on the heels of 9/11. An extraordinary theatrical event comes next with the hit Broadway musical Disney's ALADDIN which soars to new heights.

Then in spring, Andrew Lloyd Webber's new high-octane hit SCHOOL OF ROCK makes its Portland premiere! Based on the iconic Jack Black film, the story follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who turns a class of straight-A students into grade-A rockers.


The subscription season rounds out with the new production of Roald Dahl's amazing tale of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. It's the perfect recipe for a delectable treat: songs from the original film alongside a toe-tapping and ear-tickling new score.

The final show is the season option WICKED-the untold true story of the Witches of Oz-transfixing audiences with its wildly inventive and heart-warming story of the unlikeliest of friendships! WICKED will send your spirits soaring to heights you'll never forget.

ON YOUR FEET! | OCTOBER 16 - 21, 2018

From their humble beginnings in Cuba, Emilio and Gloria Estefan came to America and broke through all barriers to become a crossover sensation at the very top of the pop music world. But just when they thought they had it all, they almost lost everything. ON YOUR FEET! takes you behind the music and inside the real story of this record-making and groundbreaking couple who, in the face of adversity, found a way to end up on their feet.

Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), with choreography by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and an original book by Academy Award winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman), ON YOUR FEET! features some of the most iconic songs of the past quarter-century - and one of the most inspiring stories in music history.

Two worlds collide in this "breathtaking and exquisite" (The New York Times) musical, based on the 2015 Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production. One of Rodgers & Hammerstein's finest works, THE KING AND I boasts a score that features such beloved classics as "Getting To Know You," "I Whistle a Happy Tune," "Hello Young Lovers," "Shall We Dance" and "Something Wonderful."

Set in 1860's Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children. This high-octane smash features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie and musical theater's first-ever kids rock band playing their instruments live on stage.
