The Gallery Theater announces upcoming events and rehearsals for March, 2009

AACT OREGON ONE ACT FESTIVAL 13,14,15, March at the theater. Information is posted on our website which, by the way, is getting better and better. Have you checked it out lately? We have 6 one act plays being performed, some wonderful workshops for actors, directors and writers and people who love community theater. In addition, there are a number of social events...three receptions and the Awards Brunch on Sunday beginning at 10:30 on the Main Stage of the theater.

Oregon will send two theaters on to Regionals in Couer d'Alene, Idaho in April. Gallery Theater will perform their entry "Tell Me Another Story, Sing Me A Song" on Friday night. Meridith Symons and Julia Sargent play a mother and daughter in a series of dialogues that are very familiar to all mothers and daughters as they age from 5 years old and on into the mother's elderly years.

We will also do a showcase performance of a cut from the play "Sordid Lives" which we performed in the Spring of 2008. The play centers around the scene with Brother Boy and Dr. Eve Bolinger, the psychiatrist. Those who saw the full play will remember the wonderful performance of Ken Moore as Brother Boy. Other cast members will have vignettes including Ginger Williams, as Bitsey Mae, Meridith Symons, as Sissy, Debra Wells as LaVonda, Chris Benham as Wardell. Phil Darling, as Odell and Jane Nielsen, as Juanita add a humorous touch to the smaller bar scene. They will perform on Saturday afternoon at 4:00. We hope our Gallery Theater community will come out and support us. Price per show is $5. With a reception on Friday add $5 and on Saturday add $10. Besides being a lot of work and a lot of fun, this is a good moneymaker for our theater if we have people come out to support it. Sunday brunch is $20.

IN REHEARSAL:
The hilarious show which comes up next in the Arena is "The Complete Works of Shakespeare Unabridged", directed by Ken Moore. This should be a very popular one for audiences as three performers play all of Shakespeare's most popular roles in one night. It opens at the end of March.

"Little Women" has cast its show with the exception of one missing person. We are looking for a man, can look mid twenties, and plays the tutor, Mr. John Brooke. He ends up with Meg. If you know of anyone who might be right for the part and is available please have them contact the theater or Carolyn McCloskey, at 503-435-1755. Rehearsals are going on at 6:30 Sunday through Thursday, with a break for the One Act Festival.
