A Big Family Weekend at Symphony Space

By:

Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) is a dynamic family performer who grew up in Austin, Texas. Now based in Portland, Oregon, this nationally touring artist weaves folksongs and puppetry into engaging shows for all ages. With his energetic performances and lush folk-rock recordings, the red-bearded bard reinvigorates American folklore for younger generations. Red Yarn will bring his battered suitcase full of engaging puppets (Bob Rabbit, Rocky Raccoon and Shiloh Squirrel are expected to appear) to perform new songs from his upcoming album of American music, "Born in the Deep Woods and other favorites. ?Ages 2 and up.

Thalia Kids' Book Club Presents:

An Afternoon with Hervé Tullet

Sunday, February 5 at 1 pm

Tickets: $16 ($13 members)

The Thalia Kids' Book Club offers lively discussions between children's book creators and their fans. Each event includes a creative writing project, a discussion with the audience, and a book signing. On February 5, aspiring young artists and authors are invited to join the wildly imaginative French-born author of Press Here and Let's Play in an interactive afternoon of art and storytelling. Fellow illustrator Chris Raschka (A Ball for Daisy) will lead a conversation with Tullet.
As Children's Corner notes, "Hervé doesn't just read his books, he performs them, moving like a dancer this way and that way, to add yet another layer of fun." The event is produced in cooperation with Bank Street Bookstore. Ages 5 - 10

Stunning acrobatics and visual effects:

Saturday, February 18: ELIZABETH MITCHELL

Saturday, February 25: Gustafer Yellowgold
