Good Theater has received a grant in the amount of $2,000 from the Edward H. Daveis Benevolent Fund for the upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest. The Daveis grant monies will be used toward the lavish costumes and set for this classic Oscar Wilde comedy. The grant is also helping to support the attendance of the entire sophomore class from Freeport High School who will see a special morning performance of EARNEST on March 11. EARNEST is taught in the sophomore English classes at Freeport, so this will give all students an opportunity to see a professional production of the play.

Good Theater's production of EARNEST opens March 4 and plays through March 28. Brian P. Allen, Good Theater's Artistic Director, directs the play with a set designed by Janet Montgomery. Lavish period costumes will be rented from Maine State Music Theatre's new costume collection. Jeff Toombs is the lighting designer, Joshua Hurd is the production stage manager and Stephen Underwood is the technical director.

The cast for Good Theater's EARNEST features Good Theater veterans Brian Chamberlain (Algernon), Denise Poirier (Lady Bracknell), Kathleen Kimball (Miss Prism), Glenn Anderson (Reverend Chasuble) and Bob McCormack (Lane/Merriman). Newcomers to the Good Theater company include: Matthew Delamater (Jack), Abigail Killeen (Gwendolyn), Meredith Lamothe (Cecily).

Performances of The Importance of Being Earnest are Thursdays 7:30, Fridays 7:30, Saturdays 8:00 and Sundays 2:00 with added performances on Wednesday March 10, 7:30 and Saturday March 20, 3:00. For tickets and more information please call the Good Theater box office at 207-885-5883.
