The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Presents "So You Think You Want to Be In Love?" With Greg Behrendt & Amiira Ruotola 11/6
Best selling author, television host, musician and comedian Greg Behrendt, along with his wife and co-author/producer, Amiira Ruotola, bring a voice of reason and inspiration to all of us negotiating, and sometimes drowning in, the treacherous waters of romantic relationships in their lecture, So You Think You Want to Be in Love? at the Byham Theater on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Through their humor, personal experiences and observations, Behrendt and Ruotola will discuss the confusion of trying to find love in the new Millennium and how technology has changed the romantic playing field. This show offers straight talk and tough love in an effort to enlighten audiences on the world of dating. The Behrendts offer the audience unique insights into modern relationships based on the winning principals that have been embraced by women worldwide. More than just a lecture, the Behrendts also weave their uplifting advice with Greg's stand up comedy and finish each lecture with a rousing Q&A session. So You Think You Want to Be in Love? is a part of the Trust Presents series sponsored by Cohen & Grigsby.
With over 18 years of stand-up comedy and three consecutive years on the writing staff of HBO's "Sex and the City," Greg Behrendt is the perfect authority on relationships, though not by his own admission. His first book, He's Just Not That Into You (2005), was co-authored by "Sex and the City" story editor, Liz Tuccillo, and immediately shot to the #1 slot on the bestseller lists worldwide, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The film rights to the book were eventually acquired by New Line Cinema and the movie version was released in February, 2009 starring Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Connelly.
Behrendt and Ruotola co-authored New York Times best seller It's Called A Break Up Because It's Broken (2006), and their third co-authored title, It's Just A Bleeping Date (2007). Behrendt has been featured on "The Tonight Show," "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and Comedy Central. In 2001, Greg Behrendt was named one of the "10 Comics to Watch" by Variety, and was recently honored by Cosmopolitan as one of the twelve "Fun, Fearless Males" along with Patrick Dempsey and Nick Lachey.
