The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Hosts A Series of Events 9/17-23

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will host a series of performances animating the Cultural District the week prior to The Pittsburgh Summit. The array of programming reflects the multicultural diversity and artistic talent of the region.

VISUAL ARTS
The Trust's Education and Community Engagement Department will also host a survey of 15 local artists in an exhibition and sale called "soulpurpose: Local Artists Showcase." The exhibition at 709 Penn Gallery will run Friday, September 11, through Friday, November 6, 2009. Participating artists include: Leslie Ansley, Christine Bethea, Margaret Burley, Susan Constance, John Flatz, Vanessa German, Rita Gregory, Gary Guydosh, LaVerne Kemp, Christiane Leach, Saihou Njie, Sandra Moore, Susan Ragland, Mark Traughber and Richelle Wilson.

The arts are a key strategy in transforming the region, with shining examples in communities like the Cultural District, Northside, Lawrenceville, Penn Avenue, Braddock and Southside. Allegheny County's nonprofit arts and Cultural Industry generates $341 million in economic activity. In the spirit of collaboration, Pittsburgh's vibrant arts and culture scene will be teeming with activity throughout September and the entire year.
