Pittsburgh Public Theater to Present A SERVANT TO TWO MASTERS, 11/5-12/6

By:

Pittsburgh Public Theater's season continues with the comic extravaganza, A Servant To Two Masters. Written by Carlo Goldoni in 1746, the play was adapted for a contemporary audience by Lee Hall, author of the blockbuster movie and hit musical Billy Elliot. A Servant To Two Masters is the 50th production directed by Ted Pappas for Pittsburgh Public Theater. The play runs November 5 - December 6, 2015 at the O'Reilly Theater, The Public's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. For tickets call 412.316.1600 or visit ppt.org.

A Servant To Two Masters is a comedy banquet serving up slapstick, satire, and even a singalong. Obsessed lovers, entitled patriarchs, and a pair of salty service economy workers bring hilarious clashes between the classes. Prepare yourself for mistaken identity, double-entendres, funny foods, mini-skirts, and the lightning pace that is the signature of a Ted Pappas production.

The production takes place in Venice, Italy in 1965. Clarice (Erin Lindsey Krom) and Silvio (Patrick Cannon) want to marry and need the blessing of their rich fathers, Pantaloon (Bill Buell) and Dr. Lombardi (Scott Robertson). But when Beatrice (Jessica Wortham) shows up in drag, it throws a monkey wrench into their plans. As she gets ready to stay at the Inn of Brighella (Bob Walton), Beatrice hires manic Truffaldino (Jimmy Kieffer) to be her manservant. Meanwhile unbeknownst to Beatrice, Truffaldino goes to work for her lover, Florindo (David Whalen), as well. A man of great appetites, Truffaldino figures that two jobs means more free meals and more money to spend on the sexy and sassy Smeraldina (Daina Michelle Griffith).

The designers for A Servant To Two Masters are James Noone (Scenic), Amy Clark (Costumes), Kirk Bookman (Lighting), and Zach Moore (Sound). Fredric H. Orner is the Production Stage Manager and Kelly Haywood is the Assistant Stage Manager.
