Photo Flash: Richland Performing Arts' CHESS Concert with Kathy Voytko, Scott Logsdon, Kris Koop Ouellette & More

CHESS, the hit Broadway and London musical, was presented in Concert on December 8, 2013 at the Richland Performing Arts Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Check out a look back below!

CHESS in Concert starred Broadway performers including Kathy Voytko (THE PIRATE QUEEN) as Florence, Scott Logsdon (the original LES MISERABLES) as Anatoly, Kris Koop Ouellette (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) as Svetlana and Gregg Goodbrod (THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE) as Freddie. Michael Marra (Broadway LES MIS and 1st National JEKYLL & HYDE) was Molokov and Buck Dietz (SOUND OF MUSIC national tour) was the Arbiter. The concert also featurEd Scott D. Miller as Walter, Michael Misko as Gregor Vassy, Sarah Bell as Young Florence and Nathan Magee as Vigand.

Voytko, Koop and Logsdon were originally from the Johnstown area. The performance was done as a fundraiser for the Kiersten Roberston scholarship fund.

The Kiersten Roberston Scholarship was established in memory of the Richland student who was killed in an automobile accident in 2011 during the run of Richland's production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.

Logsdon directed and staged the concert which featured musical direction by Ben Easler with associate musical direction by Terry Osman, choral direction by Kim Rauch and choreography by Jackie Willnecker. Other members of the creative team included sound designer Ryan Santichen and Matt Summerson, lighting designer William Sievers and costume designer Rachel Zoborowski.

The featured ensemble included Kevin Bean, Ranita Bowers, Jayme Brooks, Adam Bukosky, Nathan Cook, Josh Devett, Kelly Devett, Emily Felton, Jara Dorsey Lash, Carrie Law, Mari Grace Lingenfelter, Mary Mauzy, Chris McAllister, Jacob St. Clair, Tiffany Stanley and Katie Strong. Maggie Williams-Bodorach was the Narrator and The Chess Game dancers were Kennedy Hess, Harris Estep and Brett Wyar

CHESS is the award-winning musical with music by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the "BB" of the iconic pop sensation ABBA, and has lyrics by legendary Academy Award, Tony Award and Emmy Award winner Tim Rice, the lyricist of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, EVITA, JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, AIDA and the Disney classics THE LION KING and ALADDIN.

CHESS features the Billboard Top Ten hit "One Night in Bangkok" and the duet "I Know Him So Well", recorded by both Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand. It focuses on the professional and personal intrigues surrounding the World Chess Championship between an American champion and his Russian challenger.
