City Theatre to Present WHY I'M SCARED OF DANCE BY JEN CHILDS 2/2-12

By:

City Theatre will present Why I'm Scared of Dance by Jen Childs, a one-woman show written by and featuring Jen Childs and directed by Harriet Power. Why I'm Scared of Dance by Jen Childs runs February 2 - February 12, 2012 on City Theatre's Lester Hamburg Studio.

Jen Childs stars in her hilarious and heartwarming one-woman comedy, where she takes you on her lifelong quest to become a great dancer. From ballet to hip-hop to tap, she proves that working at the barre is not nearly as much fun as working at the bar.

The design team includes Adam Riggar (Scenic Design), Shelley Hicklin (Lighting Design), and Chris Colucci (Sound Design).

Jen Childs is co-founder of Philadelphia's 1812 Productions, a theater company dedicated to comedy and accessibility. Childs' first original piece, The Big Time: Vaudeville for the Holidays, was presented in 2000 and introduced a unique comedic style that is now signature to 1812. It was a critical and box office success as well as the first of now over fifteen original works created by the company. 1812 is the only professional theater company in the country dedicated to comedy and now runs a four-show season at Plays and Players Theater in Philadelphia's Center City.
