Black Theatre Troupe presents the Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple, based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Running from October 18 to November 3 at the Tempe Center for the Arts, the production follows Celie, played by Xea Goolsby, as she overcomes adversity and discovers her inner strength in the early 20th century South. Directed by Karen Jones with musical direction by Brenda Hankins, the cast brings to life a powerful narrative of resilience and empowerment through a vibrant score infused with jazz, gospel, and blues. Other notable cast members include David Logan as Ol' Mister and LaTraye Meredith as Sofia.
