ABOUT THE SHOW

When Mary Poppins arrives at the Banks household, she’s hired to care for the children—but quickly becomes something far harder to define. As she guides Jane and Michael through a series of unexpected adventures, the adults around them are forced to reckon with how disconnected the family has become. Mr. Banks, focused on order and responsibility, begins to see the limits of control, while Mrs. Banks searches for her place within the chaos of home and expectation.

This stage adaptation expands the familiar story with additional musical and narrative material, deepening the world of the Banks family while preserving its most iconic moments. As imagination and structure collide, the story asks what it takes to truly see one another again—and what changes when you do.

Mary Poppins will be approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.

ABOUT SHOWCASE

MTAA’s signature Showcase program presents Broadway musicals in a concert-style format with live orchestra and chorus. After just 8–12 hours of rehearsal across two days, participants present a complete musical with scripts in hand and live orchestral accompaniment.

Rather than elaborate sets or staging, Showcases place the music at the center. Students, emerging artists, and experienced performers share the stage in a collaborative performance built around the score, ensemble, and storytelling.

Every Showcase offers audiences the opportunity to experience a full musical from a fresh perspective—driven by live music and a community of performers.

This season reimagines stories audiences already know—from page to screen to stage. Each Showcase takes a familiar world and expands it, revealing new perspectives and deeper connections within stories that feel timeless but never static.

Across the season, characters find themselves pushed into change, forced to reconsider what they know, and ultimately shaped by the choices they make. It’s a season about transformation, identity, and the ways stories continue to evolve alongside us—brought to life through a full live orchestra.
