Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present An Evening with Garrison Keillor on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m.

Minnesota-born and raised, Garrison Keillor is the living embodiment of the Midwestern spirit. Each week, he shares his steady thoughtfulness, old-fashioned values, traditional songs and dry humor through his legendary, critically acclaimed radio show, A Prairie Home Companion. More than 3 million listeners on over 450 public radio stations now hear the show each week, and countless more discovered it through Robert Altman's 2006 film adaptation, which starred Keillor along with Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Lindsay Lohan, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly and Tommy Lee Jones.
Keillor is the author of numerous best-selling books, articles and essays, and has been recognized with two Cable ACE Awards, a George Foster Peabody Award and a Grammy Award for his recording of Lake Wobegon Days. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and was presented with a National Humanities Medal by the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 1994, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame at Chicago's Museum of Broadcast Communications.
Keillor has traveled throughout the country performing with leading orchestras, in one-man shows and on tour broadcasts of A Prairie Home Companion. For his Scottsdale appearance, he will share his trademark wisdom and anecdotes about the American Midwest, the people of Lake Wobegon and more.
