Competition Opens For Arizona College Student Artwork For Governor's Arts Award Program

Arizona Citizens for the Arts is looking for artwork, created in the last two years, to be considered for use as the official artwork for the 38th annual Governor's Arts Awards' program and formal invitations. The 2019 Governor's Arts Awards will be presented on March 7, 2019 at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown, 101 N. 1st. St.

Artwork submission deadline is Dec. 20. The winning artist will be notified by Jan. 7, 2019 and will receive a $100 rights and reproductions fee and two tickets to the Governor's Arts Awards.

Submissions should celebrate the artistry, culture and unique characteristics of Arizona as interpreted by the artist. There are no size or medium restrictions, but submissions must be usable for digital reproduction and must be able to accommodate text. Images should not contain any frame, mat or watermark and selection will be made by Arizona Citizens for the Arts staff and board members.

Artists also will submit a short biography or artist statement limited to 500 words.

The Governor's Arts Awards are presented by Arizona Citizens for the Arts in partnership with the Office of the Governor. Since 1981, more than 200 distinguished artists, individuals, arts and cultural organizations, educators and businesses have received Governor's Arts Awards.
