The Woman Question, written and performed by Suli Holum, is a world premiere production at People's Light that brings to life the story of the 1894 graduating class of the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, the first degree-granting medical school exclusively for women. Drawing on archival research from Drexel University's Legacy Center, including letters, diaries, and photographs, the play blends historical fact with imaginative storytelling to explore the lives of women from across the U.S. and around the world who came to Philadelphia to pursue careers in medicine. Directed by Melissa Crespo, the ensemble cast includes Katie Boren, Melanye Finister, Claire Inie-Richards, Noelle Diane Johnson, Eli Lynn, Minou Pourshariati, Avanthika Srinivasan, and Jacinta Yelland. The production examines themes of healthcare access, gender equity, and collective resilience that remain relevant today.
