Obvious Agency presents SPORTS!, a one-time-only outdoor theatrical competition as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, in which two teams, LAVA and OBSIDIAN, battle for sports glory while exploring competition, athleticism, and belonging. Audiences root for a team and help guide the outcome, which is not predetermined. The performers, including Joseph Ahmed, Matthew Armstead, AZ Espinoza, Karen Orrick, Pax Ressler, Arthur Robinson, Jackie Soro, and Lexi Thammavong, bring their own complicated histories with sports to explore themes of queerness, transness, disability, mental health, and aging. The event includes a pre-show tailgate with OutLoud Sports Philly and a post-show sports movie screening presented by cinéSPEAK.
