La Guagua 47 in Concert is the inaugural concert presentation of Alba Martínez's new musical, performed by the La Guagua 47 Community Chorus and Band and hosted by Johanny Rodriguez of Rumba 106.1 FM. Inspired by a real 1985 ride on Philadelphia's Route 47 bus, the musical follows 15-year-old Lucía, who leaves Puerto Rico after her father's factory closes and discovers community and belonging through the SEPTA 47 bus in her new city. The score blends salsa, bolero, bachata, bomba, and reggaetón with contemporary musical theater, with lyrics in both English and Spanish. The concert serves as an official preview of the Philadelphia Theatre Company's 2026–2027 season world premiere, with musical direction by Jay Fluellen and vocal and stage direction by Victor Rodriguez.
