B. Someday Productions, with home at The Walking Fish Theatre, is proud to announce the fifth installment of the third season of the Family Theatre Series on Saturday, March 6, 2010 starting at 11:00AM. The Family Theatre Series is an interactive, literature-based performance program for children (ages 2-7) and their caregivers. This performance will take place at Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125.

The cost is a sliding fee: $1-$10, whatever you feel you can afford. Call 215-427-9255 for more information. Theme for March is "Let's be Fair," (an anti-bullying theme).

The Family Theatre Series features two professional actors--Michael Tomasetti and Kate McGrath-- bringing great children's stories to life. The children in the audience are encouraged to participate by acting out the characters with their bodies and their voices. After the performance session, the children are invited to make a simple handicraft relating to the stories, such as paper bag puppets. The caregivers will be presented with a worksheet with other related story titles and ways to make reading fun for their little ones. The program culminates with a healthy snack.

Partners with B. Someday for The Family Theatre Series are the Neighborhood Parenting Program of By My Side, a non-profit parenting program active in the Fishtown neighborhood, and Hyperion Bank of 2nd & Girard. "I think this is a great way to introduce the neighborhood kids and their parents to an exciting alternative to teaching literacy," said Teri Ramsay, Director of By My Side and Educational Partner for The Family Theatre Series. Teri will lead the discussion and handicraft part of the program.

The Family Theatre Series will happen on the first Saturday of every month, until June, 2010 as part of B. Someday's outreach into the community of Fishtown/Kensington. The sixth Family Theatre Series performance will be on Saturday, April 3 at The Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue. Each month will have its own theme.

This project is supported in part by grants from the Henrietta Tower Wurts Memorial, Seybert Institution and Target.

The Walking Fish Theatre is the performance/workshop space for the community of Fishtown/Kensington.
