Gamut Theatre Announces New Adaptation of THE JUNGLE BOOK, 4/14
By: Kelsey Denette
Gamut Theatre Group's Popcorn Hat Players will present The Jungle Book written by former Core Company Member and current Resident Playwright, Sean Adams. Performances will be Saturday, April 14 at 2:30 and 7:30 at Whitaker Center's Sunoco Theatre in Downtown Harrisburg.
The much-beloved tale has been adapted into a 90-minute play to be performed by students, ages 5 through 18.Deep in the jungles of India, an infant “man-cub” is adopted by a pack of wolves and raised as their own. The wolves name him Mowgli, and he grows under the watchful eyes of Bagheera the panther and Baloo the sloth bear, who must train him in the Laws of the Jungle. But not even their strict guidance can protect Mowgli from riotous monkeys, the vicious man-eating tiger Shere Khan, and the most fearsome animal of all – man. This must-beloved classic by Rudyard Kipling shows us the importance of family, respect for nature, and what it means to be a man.
