Catherine Walker Dazzles Audience with 'SONGS FROM MY BEDROOM' at EPAC Tonight

Broadway star and Ephrata Performing Arts Center alum Catherine Walker will debut her new cabaret show, "You Have to Start Somewhere: Songs From My Bedroom," at EPAC's Sharadin Bigler Theatre tonight, November 7, at 8 p.m. Walker will ultimately be performing the cabaret at venues in New York City and other theaters across the country.

The artist is currently starring in the Tony Award-winning musical A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. She previously performed as 'Mary Poppins' on Broadway in addition to singing the roles of the mother and Evelyn Nesbitt in RAGTIME.

Locally, Walker starred in THE SOUND OF MUSIC at the Fulton and EPAC's 1995 production of INTO THE WOODS. She is excited to return to EPAC to follow up a successful 2012 cabaret.

Walker will be accompanied by Steven Jamail, award-winning composer, arranger and music director. Originally from Galveston, Texas, Jamail holds a degree in music composition and theory from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and is currently based in New York City.

The composer is credited with writing the scores for THE LOVELY BONES and NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDRA under the direction of Tony award winning producer Stuart Ostrow at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts; MY LIFE: TODAY at the Duke Theater; and VOTE! at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston. His original music and arrangements have been performed on Broadway, with the York Theatre Company and The Public Theater, and most recently in a sold-out solo debut at Lincoln Center.

Among Jamail's television endeavors are arrangements and lyrics for THE HOWARD STERN SHOW, original music and lyrics for Rachel Ray's 40th Birthday Special, a holiday arrangement for NBC's Tree-Lighting at Rockefeller Center, music direction for episodes of THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW and THE APPRENTICE, and arrangements for THE ROSIE SHOW on OWN.
