Broadway's Tony nominated actress Ann Crumb, who has originated numerous leading roles on Broadway and in London's West End, will rock out as the Acid Queen in "The Who's Tommy" at The Media Theatre March 30-May 22.

Ann Crumb starred in "Aspects of Love", "Chess", "The Goodbye Girl", "Nine", "Les Miserables" and "Anna Karenina" for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She is the recipient of a Barrymore Award (Philadelphia's version of the Tony Awards) as well as an Arts Recognition honor and a Broadway National Theatre Award nomination. She toured nationally with "Man of La Mancha" and "Evita". She has appeared on the television shows "Law and Order", "One Life to Live" and "Criminal Intent". She headlined the national tours of "Music of the Night" and "Swing".

She appeared on The Media Theatre stage in February of 2010 as Maria Callas in a critically acclaimed revival of "Master Class" directed by Jesse Cline. She received a Barrymore nomination as Best Actress for her portrayal of Florence Foster Jenkins in "Souvenir" at The Media.

In "The Who's Tommy", The Acid Queen is a self-proclaimed gypsy who feeds Tommy hallucinogenic drugs in an attempt to cure his catatonia. Tommy is deaf, mute, and blind due to traumatic experiences. He eventually becomes a pinball champion, achieving super-stardom.

Pete Townshend's score won the Tony Award in 1993 when The Who's concept album from the late 1960's was transferred to the Broadway stage. Townshend said he used Tommy's afflictions to represent the "basic blindness to reality" shared by most of the general population. The role of Tommy will be portrayed on The Media Theatre stage by Peter Kriss who has been seen in regional productions of "Footloose" and "Fame".
