Lincoln Center Theater's production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical FALSETTOS played its final performance today at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Lincoln Center Theater in association with Jujamcyn Theaters will soon present its new Broadway production of the William Finn-James Lapine Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos, which begins previews tomorrow, September 29 at 8pm at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street). Opening night for Falsettos opens Thursday, October 27.

Actor and Broadway star Andrew Rannells dished on his HBO cast mates, but says the chatter on set is not as hip and sexy as you might think.

BroadwayWorld has reunited the original cast (Michael Rupert, Stephen Borgardus, Carolee Carmello, Heather MacRae, Chip Zien and Jonathan Kaplan) to reminisce about all things Falsettos. Happy Birthday, Mary Testa! Testa is a two-time Tony Award nominee, for performances in revivals of Leonard Bernstein's On the Town (1998) and 42nd Street (2001). She made her debut as Miss Goldberg in William Finn's one-act musical In Trousers (1979), part one of his 'Marvin Trilogy,' winning audiences over with her rendition of 'Set Those Sails' and 'I Am Wearing a Hat,' as well as 'The Rape of Miss Goldberg by Marvin.' She returned to Broadway in July, 2007 in the musical-theater remake of the 1980 film Xanadu for which she received a Drama Desk Award nomination.

Today in 2005, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 1136 performances. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a one act musical comedy conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin and additional material by Jay Reiss. The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. The 2005 Broadway production, directed by James Lapine, was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning two, including Best Book. The show has spawned various other productions in the U.S., including a national tour with performances in Canada, and Australian productions.

As BroadwayWorld reported today, Lincoln Center Theater will join forces with Jujamcyn Theaters this fall to bring William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos back to Broadway. Falsettos will begin previews Thursday, September 29 and open on Thursday, October 27 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street). Lapine will return to helm the production.
