Josh Radnor stops by The Today Show to discuss his role in the new NBC musical series RISE. In the new musical drama series “Rise,” Josh Radnor portrays an inspirational high school theater director. He tells TODAY's Hoda Kotb that he was “thrilled” to learn that Rosie Perez would co-star with him: “She's really fun to fake-fight with, but I wouldn't recommend a real fight with her.”

Inspired by a true story, when dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli follows his dream of leading his high school's lagging theatre department, he not only galvanizes the students and faculty, but their entire working-class town. Rise premieres TONIGHT 10/9 on NBC.

The first musical offering highlights cast recordings included in the “Rise” series premiere, airing on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, immediately following the season finale of “This Is Us.” The weekly musical releases will culminate with a full album, entitled “RISE SEASON 1: THE ALBUM,” due Friday, May 11. The collection will highlight selected tracks released over the course of the season, alongside additional unreleased songs from the cast.

In conjunction with its new theatre drama, RISE, NBC has created  R.I.S.E. America, a program that grants a half-million dollars to high school theatre programs across the country.

NBC has released the latest promo for the upcoming drama 'Rise.' The music video style promo, featuring the show's cast performing a new Tom Kitt arrangement of Macklemore's 'Glorious', will also preview on air during NBC's broadcast of the Super Bowl on Sunday. Check out the new promo below!

MERCY STREET, the much-acclaimed Civil War-era drama set in the occupied city of Alexandria, Virginia, will return to PBS stations for a second season on January 22 2017, at 8:00 p.m. ET (check local listings). Lincoln Center Theater presents Richard Greenberg's new play THE BABYLON LINE this fall in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65th Street). The production, directed by Terry Kinney, features Maddie Corman, Randy Graff, Julie Halston, Michael Oberholtzer, Josh Radnor, Elizabeth Reaser, and Frank Wood, officially opened last night, December 5.
