DESTINY'S CHILD Star Williams Set for West End Debut as 'Roxie' in CHICAGO

Michelle Williams will make her West End stage debut starring as ?Roxie Hart' in the smash hit West End musical 'CHICAGO' at the Cambridge Theatre from Monday 13 July until 22 August. Michelle Williams, the Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer and actress, rose to fame as one third of Destiny's Child. Ruthie Henshall Returns as Roxie with 'Hart' in West End's CHICAGO, Dec. 14

Ruthie Henshall will return to 'CHICAGO' to reprise the role of ‘Roxie Hart' from Monday 14 December for nine weeks only (14 December - 28 February). Ruthie Henshall originated the role of ‘Roxie Hart' in 1997 - for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award - when 'CHICAGO' first conquered the West End. As Ruthie Henshall is contracted to other commitments for selected performances between 28 December - 2 January, Bonnie Langford will play the role of ‘Roxie' for these performances. Bonnie comes to London direct from playing the role of ‘Roxie' on Broadway. (more...)

Talking to the UK Telegraph, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber tells the paper that The Wizard of Oz, which opens in February 2011 in London (and already has a $13+ million dollar advance) will play America next, with talks underway to do a television casting show for Dorothy as he's done in the UK. Britain's loss could be America's gain, however. 'A couple of the networks in the US have wanted to build something around what I do on TV, and I think with Oz something is definitely going to happen there. The X Factor juggernaut is going to be huge there next year but other networks are looking for something to go against it. Once we've found a Dorothy in the US, my instinct is to open the show in Kansas [Dorothy's home].' (more...)

Andrew Lloyd Webber's new The Wizard of Oz promises to be the biggest theatre event of the year, combining all the much-loved songs from the Oscar-winning movie score with new songs. Now, the full cast for the much anticipated show has been revealed.
