World-class magic meets a human story of love and loss in the world premiere of The Magic Play by Andrew Hinderaker at Goodman Theatre, October 21 - November 20. Critically acclaimed magician, illusion designer and actor Brett Schneider portrays a rising young magician who must take the stage just hours after his partner has left him. Though a good magician must always be in control of his show, The Magician's performance begins to unravel, illuminating his offstage life, which may be as fragile as a house of cards. Raven's revival of this later play by Tennessee Williams that was 'rediscovered' in acclaimed productions in London and New York is an autobiographical play that Williams first began writing around the time he started The Glass Menagerie. It concerns a young writer who in 1938 moves to a ramshackle French Quarter rooming house that's home to an assortment of desperate and eccentric characters. The New York Times said Vieux Carre is, along with The Glass Menagerie, Williams' other autobiographical memory play, one of two 'critical bookends' to Williams' career. First Folio Theatre presents Tom Stoppard's hysterical farce ROUGH CROSSING through March 2, 2014. Directed by Jeff Award nominee and First Folio Theatre favorite Alison C. Vesely, ROUGH CROSSING is a musical romp on the high seas. Jeff Award winner Christopher Kriz ("The Turn of the Screw") will be composing three new jazz songs to Stoppard's original lyrics.
