Brian Bedford, Roger Rees, Alan Rickman and more legends of Broadway were honored during the In Memoriam segment of the 70th Annual TONY AWARDS.

On Tuesday morning members of the press and the Toronto theatre community gathered at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre to join David Mirvish in celebrating fifty years of the Mirvish family producing theatre in Toronto. The theatre was packed with people eager to hear what new shows were being added on to the previously announced 50th Anniversary Season, but also excited to celebrate the extensive contributions Mirvish have made to the city of Toronto and to our theatre community.

A hilarious battle of wits plays out in one of Noel Coward's most celebrated comedies, Blithe Spirit. Directed by long-time Stratford Festival favourite Brian Bedford, the gorgeously designed production officially opens tonight, June 1, and runs until October 20 at the Avon Theatre. Olympia Dukakis will lead a special production of Tennessee Williams' The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore at the Harold and Miram Steinberg Center for Theatre in the Laura Pels Theatre in January. Anything Goes, starring Broadway darling Sutton Foster, sails into the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in March. Finally, Donna Murphy stars in the new musical, The People In The Picture, which will follow The Importance Of Being Earnest at the American Airlines Theatre in April.
