Broadway Gives Back and Seaview Productions presented the 'Second Annual Broadway Charity Songs' benefit concert on February 24, 2014. 'Broadway Charity Songs' has paired a group of award-winning musical theatre composers with a group outstanding charities and tasked them with composing an original song inspired by the work of that charity. The result is a group of songs gifted to the charities - with the hope that the songs 'go viral' -- increasing awareness for these outstanding organizations. Today in 1999, You're A Good an Charlie Brown opened at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. A 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, the show is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. THe 1999 revival featured new dialogue by Michael Mayer, who also directed, and additional songs and orchestration written by Andrew Lippa; choreography was by Jerry Mitchell. The cast featured Anthony Rapp, Kristin Chenoweth, and Roger Bart.

Earlier this month, 54 Below featured Patty & Emily, who brought their special brand of fangirl enthusiasm off YouTube and to the stage! Along with music director Kevin David Thomas, the duo welcomed Julia Murney and Amber Iman, who duetted on one of their dream songs- 'Agony' from Into the Woods. Happy Birthday, Taye Diggs! In 1996, Diggs originated the role of the landlord Benny in Jonathan Larson's Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Rent. After Rent he appeared as Mr. Black in Andrew Lippa's off-Broadway production of The Wild Party. Diggs also played The Bandleader in the 2002 film version of the long-running Broadway revival of Chicago and filled in as Billy Flynn on Broadway.

It was '80's night on last night's THE X FACTOR on FOX and Broadway vet Rachel Potter, hoping to maintain her spot on Kelly Rowland's Over 25 team, chose to perform the classic Heart song 'Alone.'

Firehouse Theatre Project recently announced the complete casting and the creative team for The Wild Party, a musical with book, lyrics and music by Andrew Lippa. Directed by Jase Smith, The Wild Party will play 18 performances, November 21 - December 28. Opening Night is Friday, November 22. Meet the cast in the video below!
