An all-star roster of theater artists gathered today to record the new benefit single 'What the World Needs Now is Love' for victims of the Orlando Shooting. Broadway Records President Van Dean, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley announced the single and the charitable initiative 'Broadway for Orlando' earlier today. Today in 2009, Next to Normal opened at the Booth Theatre, where it ran for 733 performances. Next to Normal is a rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life. It was nominated for eleven 2009 Tony Awards and won three, Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, becoming just the eighth musical in history to receive the honor.

The first official trailer for the upcoming indie comedy Bear with Us has been released on Vimeo via director William Stribling's account. Starring Christy Carlson Romano (Emmy-nominated star of Disney's Kim Possible and Even Stevens), Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story, 30 Rock, Glee, Love is Strange, United 93, Behind the Candelabra), and Mark Jude Sullivan (star of the upcoming YouTube series Sing It!), Bear with marks Stribling's debut as a writer/director.  Check out a first look below!

Original stars of SIDE SHOW Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner were reunited last weekend at 54 Below in their show UNATTACHED. Check out clips from the performance here!

Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner are performing together in NYC for the first time in nearly nine years.  The duo received a Tony Award co-nomination for their role(s) as the conjoined twins, Daisy and Violet Hilton, in the original Broadway production of Side Show; separately, Alice and Emily have starred in numerous other Broadway shows including The Full Monty, Next To Normal, Billy Elliot, The Rocky Horror Show, and many more. Additional performances will take place February 4-6 (7PM) and February 6 (9:30PM) at Feinstein's/54 Below.
