The first official trailer for the upcoming indie comedy Bear with Us has been released on Vimeo via director William Stribling's account. Starring Christy Carlson Romano (Emmy-nominated star of Disney's Kim Possible and Even Stevens), Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story, 30 Rock, Glee, Love is Strange, United 93, Behind the Candelabra), and Mark Jude Sullivan (star of the upcoming YouTube series Sing It!), Bear with marks Stribling's debut as a writer/director. Check out a first look below!

The film's cast also includes Alex McKenna, Collin Smith, Kevin Carolan, Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley, House of Cards' Curtiss Cook, and the voice of Orange Is the New Black's Lea DeLaria. Erica A. Hart and Karlee Fomalont served as the film's casting directors.

Bear with Us is a modern farce about a single-minded romantic (Sullivan) who attempts to propose to the woman of his dreams (Romano) in the most romantic way possible, but his plan starts to fall apart when a ravenous bear stumbles upon their charming cabin in the woods. Described as "a total comedy of errors that takes a close look at just how far we'll go to preserve our relationships," the genre-bending film deftly balances comedy, heart, and a pervasive sense that at any moment, things just might spiral out of control.

Stribling, the film's director and co-writer, is quoted saying, "This is easily the most ridiculous and ambitious thing I've ever done. And I think that's saying something because my last film was about a fire-eater trying to set a world record by blowing fire while skydiving."

Stribling elaborated on the film's tone, "It's a classic farce in a sense, but it gets pretty dark. We also throw in a bunch of nods to classic horror films. It's got a really unique sense of humor that I attribute entirely to my collaboration with Russ Nickel on the script. We both grew up loving Monty Python, and I think that shows here. At the end of the day, what's important is that I get to make people laugh. Well, laugh and feel profoundly uncomfortable...in the best way, of course."

Bear with Us is scheduled to screen at the Gasparilla International Film Festival in Tampa on Friday, April 1st at 8:35pm at Muvico Centro Ybor. The festival will also be featuring the Helen Mirren thriller Eye in the Sky and Richard Linklater's latest, Everybody Wants Some, and a lifetime achievement award ceremony for Rita Moreno. Stribling, Nickel, and select cast and crew will be in attendance and will participate in an audience Q&A following the screening of Bear with Us.
