BWW Review: Risky and Innovative AMERICAN IDIOT at ArtsWest Pays Off

ArtsWest has taken on a huge risk by putting up the Green Day musical 'American Idiot' on their intimate stage. Not only by trying to fit this large spectacle in their space but also literally reconfiguring their floor plan and utilizing multiple areas within their theater to create an immersive experience in addition to the regular observational one. With so much going on, a cast of 31 and a full band this could have been a full on train wreck. But director Eric Ankrim and his crew have taken this super risky venture and spun it into pure gold.

ArtsWest Sets AMERICAN IDIOT Creative Team

ArtsWest has announced the creative team behind the first production of its 2015-2016 season, two-time Tony Award-winning musical Green Day's American Idiot: Eric Ankrim, Director; R.J. Tancioco & Chris Ranney, Co-Musical Directors; Trina Mills, Supervising Choreographer; and Shadou Mintrone & Gabe Corey, Choreographers.

BWW Reviews: MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT Saves the World in Style at Avant Bard

Countess Aurelie and her fellow madwomen are back to save Chaillot, Paris and the world in a stylishly realized theatrical tour-de-force. As directed by Christopher Henley, WSC Avant Bard's THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT is a feast for the eyes and ears. The production, in an exciting and vibrant translation by Laurence Senelick, also feeds the soul as a reminder of how precious our fragile earth really is and how important it is for someone, anyone, to take a stand to protect it. This MADWOMAN is also brilliantly acted from the members of the quirky ensemble to the queen bee herself, Countess Aurelie, effortlessly brought to life by Avant Bard company member Cam Magee.

Imagination Stage's Speak Out On Stage Ensemble will perform Fantatics, a musical devised by students in grades 4 through 6, this weekend, May 29-31, 2015 in the Christopher and Dana Reeve Theatre. Fantatics is conceived by members of the Speak Out On Stage (SOOS) Ensemble, and is written by Jack Novak with original music by Alex Abdoulaev.

Peninsula Players to Host Readings of One-Act Plays, 4/6

Peninsula Players Theatre will present a reading of two one-act plays, 'I Shall Love You Forever' by Kathleen Thompson and 'Waiting for Tina Meyer' by Kristine Thatcher and Larry Shue at Bjorklunden (7590 Boynton Lane, Baileys Harbor) at 7p.m., Monday, April 6.
