In 1928, Ruth Snyder was executed for the murder of her husband; that same year, Sophie Treadwell wrote Machinal, inspired by Snyder's story. Now, playwright Steph Del Rosso has crafted a relentless, raucous exploration of feminism - part rock concert, part performance art - inspired by Treadwell's expressionist masterpiece. This production, created for the IDEAS Festival 2017 in San Diego and subsequently presented at Ubuntu Theater in the Bay Area, lands at JACK under the direction of rising theater-maker Will Detlefsen.

Okieriete 'Oak' Onaodowan, best known for originating the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in Hamilton, will join the cast of the new Broadway musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 as 'Pierre' beginning July 11th, 2017, a week later than expected.

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. Presented by The Brewing Dept. and Fortress Productions, this new summer theater festival provides early-career artists a high level of production support and features five world premieres and five readings performed in repertory over four weeks. Special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through innovative and unusual collaborative models. A majority of the participating artists identify as female.

Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced a striking three-play lineup for its 2017/18 season, which includes an irreverent tale about the hacktivist group Anonymous, a rolicking family drama about the demographic you love to hate, and a dark and stormy examination of the science fiction future of intimacy. The season, which marks The Ensemble's 14th year as a producing theatre company in Seattle, is themed 'No Surprise' and will look at toxic masculinity under a microscope.
