There is nothing like Celtic music to bring a lift to the step and a smile to the heart, and SONGS OF IRELAND, a new benefit concert streaming on the Fulton Theatre’s virtual platform, Fulton HD, delivers an hour of irresistible tunes performed with impeccable style, charm, and emotional depth by a stellar ensemble, who have a strong bond with Maine theatre. Directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, this beautifully crafted musical revue brings together Curt Dale Clark, Charis Leos, David Girolmo, Cary Michele Miller, Jay Poff, and Gillian Hassert, all of whom are favorites at Maine State Music and most veterans of either the 2016 THE IRISH AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY co-production with Portland Stage or Robin’s restaging at the Fulton Theatre in 2018.

Tim Robbins has joined the list of celebrities contributing performances for Theater or the New City's 2021 'Love 'N Courage' gala March 22, which benefits the theater's emerging playwrights program.  Robbins joins Charles Busch, David Amram, F. Murray Abraham and Vinie Burrows in the roster of stars sharing prepared performances.

Theater for the New City, which turns 50 this month, will hold its annual 'Love 'N Courage' gala--a benefit for its Emerging Playwrights Program--virtually this year on Monday, March 22 at 7:00 PM. 

On Saturday, February 20 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Theater for the New City (TNC), 155 First Ave., will present the fifteenth installment of 'Open 'Tho Shut,' its afternoon of 'walk-by theater' that is staged in its set shop and visible from East Tenth Street between First and Second Avenues.

BroadwayWorld is premiering a timely new song/music video that's a part of the efforts of Broadway for Biden. 'Happiness Is Just A Thing Called Joe', from the 1943 Harold Arlen/Yip Harburg musical Cabin In the Sky, is performed by Tony Award-nominee Melissa Errico and Billboard Chart-topping pianist Lara Downes.

Theater for the New City's Village Halloween Costume Ball, a revered Village tradition that frequently welcomes over 1,200 revelers, will be presented virtually this year with most of its key traditions preserved. Notable artists including Everett Quinton, F. Murray Abraham, Austin Pendleton, Phoebe Legere and Penny Arcade.

Today Keen Company Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced additional guests for Keen After Hours. Next up is Kate Baldwin (October 5th), followed by Marsha Mason (October 19th), and John-Andrew Morrison & Jasminn Johnson (October 26th).

With the roster still building, Theater for the New City has currently scheduled over 150 performing arts organizations, independent artists, poets, puppeteers and film makers for its 25th annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, which will be mounted virtually for the first time May 22 to 24, 2020.
