Gotham Chamber Opera together with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group is proud to announce the third track in the nation's first comprehensive, operatic Composer In Residence program. Funded initially by a $1.4 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program has received an additional $330,000 from the foundation to provide a third professional development path for one of today's most promising opera composers, selected on a competitive basis. Applications are being accepted from June 20-July 18, 2013.

Seating is by general admission on the lawn. Blankets and outside food will be permitted. Boxed picnic dinners will also be available for purchase.

Gotham Chamber Opera announces its 2012-2013 season of three productions, featuring two site-specific works. The season begins with GOTHAM @ LPR: ORIENTALE on October 1 and 3, 2012 at (Le) Poisson Rouge and continues with the New York Premiere of Francesco Cavalli's ELIOGABALO(1667) from March 15-29, 2013 at The Box, staged by James Marvel. The season will conclude in June with a production of Daniel Catán's 1988 opera, LA HIJA DE RAPPACCINI (Rappaccini's Daughter), in site-specific venues.

The evening will begin in the lobby where concert-goers will be immersed in an emotional, intellectual and theatrical 'Nova Experience' bringing the essence of Spain -- dance, cuisine, culture, music and more to the Center. Music from Bizet, Tchaikovsky, de Falla, and Albeniz, among others, will be performed by Orchestra Nova's 35 talented musicians. An array of special guest artists including: Victoria Mature, soprano; Gregorio Gonzalez, baritone; Olé Flamenco (Marysol Fuentes, flamenco singer; Erika Lopez, flamenco dance and Juan Moro, flamenco guitar) and Fred Benedetti, classical guitar will further bring Spain to life.
