Cathy Weis Projects announces the spring 2018 season of Sundays on Broadway, an ongoing series of performances, film screenings, and discussions on Sunday evenings at WeisAcres. The spring season is jointly curated by dance artists Ishmael Houston-Jones, Jon Kinzel, Jennifer Lafferty, and Cathy Weis. All events begin at 6pm. $10 suggested donation at door. CBS has ordered TKO (working title), an obstacle course series with a twist, from executive producer Mark Burnett (SURVIVOR) and MGM Television. The 10-episode series will premiere in summer 2018, it was announced today by Sharon Vuong, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming for the Network.

The University of Hawai'i at M?noa's Department of Theatre and Dance rounds out Kennedy Theatre's Primetime 2017/18 Season with Spring Footholds: Transitions.  This dance concert showcases the talents of Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Dance candidates as well as undergraduate dance student choreographers and performers with a dynamic contrast of styles and themes. Performances run March 14, 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and March 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre.  There will be a free Post-Show Rap following the performance on March 16.

TNT Greenlights DEADLIER THAN THE MALE

Casting has been announced for the World Premiere of Great Apes from the novel by Will Self; reimagined for the stage by Patrick Marmion. Great Apes is a new play by Patrick Marmion directed by RSC and Donmar actor Oscar Pearce (Wolf Hall, Real Thing), based on the novel by Will Self opening at the Arcola Theatre on Monday 19th March.

It is a raucous, surreal modern satire that mixes Self's famously rich language with subtle simian movement and vocalisations to create a theatrical 'Planet of the Apes' crossed with 'Gulliver's Travels'. With set and costume design by Sarah Beaton, movement by Jonnie Riordan, lighting by Matt Haskins and sound by Dan Balfour.

Casting has been completed for Rasaka and Vitalist's remounting of MERCHANT ON VENICE, Shishir Kurup's raucous South Asian re-imagining of Shakespeare's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, to be directed by Liz Carlin Metz.

Phil Daniels will lead the company in the titular role of Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde at the King's Theatre Edinburgh, Tuesday 10 - Saturday 14 April 2018, in this new production, adapted by David Edgar and directed by Kate Saxon.

For 2018-19, MadLab has declared it their The Future is Now season as all of their full length shows next year are sci-fi takes on the near future and, in one instance, the near past. In addition to those 3 shows, it is another jam packed year including their 20th Theatre Roulette, their 7th Young Writer's Short Play Festival, the latest version of Date Night by their resident improv troupe FFN, and more.

In association with the Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis and Atlanta's Working Title Playwrights, Synchronicity Theatre will present SheWrites, a national playwriting competition for women, February 12 23, 2018 at Synchronicity Theatre in Atlanta. The plays that will be workshopped this year are Medica by Daryl Lisa Fazio, Romeo & Naomi Ramirez by Kathryn Walat, and Hands of Color by Kimberly Monks. Touring Consortium Theatre Company and Rose Theatre Kingston today announce the full company for Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde adapted for the stage by David Edgar. Joining the previously announced Phil Daniels as Jekyll/Hyde are Rosie Abraham (Lucy/Maid/Singer), Sam Cox (Poole), Polly Frame (Katherine Urquart), Anyebe Godwin (Charles), Ben Jones (Lanyon/Carew), Robin Kingsland (Gabriel John Utterson), Grace Hogg-Robinson (Annie Loder) and Matthew Romain (Enfield/Parson).
