Burning Coal Theatre Company will present (Three Man) Tempest by William Shakespeare, adapted and directed by Randolph Curtis Rand, December 5 - 22, 2013. The production runs Thursdays through Saturdays, December 5 - 7, 12 - 14 and 19 - 21 at 7:30 pm and Sundays, December 8, 15 and 22 at 2 pm. The Wooster Group is currently developing a production of one of William Shakespeare's most enigmatic plays, Troilus and Cressida, translating it into a distinctly American idiom. The Group will present four weeks of preview performances of this new production, CRY, TROJANS! (Troilus & Cressida), from January 8-February 2 at The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street).
This morning, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, St. Ann's Warehouse Founder and Artistic Director Susan Feldman, St. Ann's Warehouse Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson, St. Ann's Warehouse Board Chair Joseph S. Steinberg, Brooklyn Bridge Park President Regina Myer, NYC Council Member Stephen Levin, State Senator Daniel Squadron and others broke ground at the Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The event signals the beginning of St. Ann's $27 million development of the historic building, originally constructed in 1861, into a 25,000 SF performing arts center and community hub on the Brooklyn waterfront. The Tobacco Warehouse will serve as a permanent home for St. Ann's, which has activated found spaces for cultural use in downtown Brooklyn since in 1980. The non-profit organization plans to present its opening season in the Brooklyn Bridge Park warehouse in Fall 2015.
RoosevElvis ('Rose-of-Elvis') tells the story of Ann, a thirty-five year old meat-processing plant worker living in Rapid City, South Dakota. Painfully shy, Ann has recently begun to inhabit the character of Elvis Presley in the privacy of her home. In his skin, she begins to find the courage to open herself to the world. She meets and sleeps with Brenda, a woman whose online dating profile lists taxidermy and Teddy Roosevelt among her interests. The two take a weekend camping trip to the Badlands, but it doesn't go well. Frustrated by Ann's passivity about her own life, Brenda leaves, prodding Ann to do something, like like get in a car and drive to her hero's house in Memphis. Ann begins a hallucinatory drive south, accompanied by the increasingly present and invasive spirits of Presley and Roosevelt (played by the actresses). As Graceland comes even closer, these two icons of American masculinity battle for what type of man or woman Ann should become. Set against the boundless blue skies of the Great Plains and endless American highway,RoosevElvis is a new work about gender, appetite, and the multitudes we contain.

ARGUENDO began performances on Tuesday, September 10, and was originally extended through October 13. The show officially opened on Tuesday, September 24, and will now run an additional two weeks through Sunday, October 27.

After many years in donated and rental space, St. Ann's Warehouse has officially secured a permanent home in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Mayor Bloomberg announced that the Brooklyn Bridge Park Board of Directors has approved a long-term lease with the internationally renowned arts organization to develop a year-round performing arts facility and community hub in the Tobacco Warehouse, an iconic structure on the waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The announcement follows the recent completion of the federal conversion process enabling St. Ann's Warehouse to activate the space. The organization will break ground later this fall (date TBA), beginning the process to preserve and adapt the historic pre-Civil War building. St. Ann's Warehouse hopes to begin presenting in the Tobacco Warehouse in the fall of 2015.
