A PARADISE OF FOOLS, ROAMING CHARGES and More Headline Detroit Repertory Theatre's 2012-13 Season

The Detroit Repertory Theatre's 2012/2013 Season will have its Champagne Opening and Celebration on November 1, 2012. The highlight of this 56th Opening Night at the Rep will be the World Premiere farce, A PARADISE OF FOOLS by Michael E. Wolfson. The rest of the season are World and Midwest Premieres that span a range of issues: human rights and history, the rippling effects of mental illness on a family, and a poem/play about race, mothers, daughters, suburbia, academia, identity and poetry.

Geva Theatre Center announces that Robert Vaughn, star of stage and screen, will play the role of Martin Vanderhof in the opening production of its 40th Anniversary Season, the Pulitzer Prize winning play, You Can't Take It With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, in the Wilson Mainstage September 11 - October 7.

The world premiere of Edith, which chronicles the political actions of first lady Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, opens Berkshire Theatre Group's Fitzpatrick Main Stage on August 4 at 8pm. Previews begin July 31 at 8pm and closing is on August 11.

In conjunction with the Huntington Theatre Company's production of Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's first Broadway hit, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, WGBH 89.7 FM's "Jazz with Eric in the Evening" host Eric Jackson and "The Callie Crossley Show" host Callie Crossley will discuss the social and musical history depicted in the play in a post-show conversation on Saturday, March 24 immediately following the 2pm performance.

Iowa Celebrates Woody Guthrie's 100th Birthday in 2012

As 'Occupy' occupiers gather in America, the music of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie ultimately fill the air wherever they are camped out. Many of them celebrate the music of Guthrie. Dylan, in particular, is releasing 'Chimes of Freedom' a 4-CD tribute honoring the 50-year existence of 'Amnesty International.' Rest assured this will be followed by a massive Guthrie 'new music releases' and celebration, especially since 2012 is his 100th birthday.
