Seattle Repertory Theatre reveals a sneak peek at its 2018-2019 season, which will include the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights. Set to perform on the Bagley Wright Theatre stage in late 2018, In The Heights was conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda who also wrote the music and lyrics, with book by Quiara Alegria Hudes.
Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) and Teatro Publico de Cleveland (TPC) present the regional premiere of En el Tiempo de las Mariposas, a play by Caridad Svich based on the novel by Julia Alvarez. The production is directed by Julia Rosa Sosa and will be performed in Spanish, with English subtitles, by TPC ensemble members and will run February 22 - March 10, 2018, in CPT's historic Gordon Square Theatre.
Northern Stage announced today that WP Theater (formerly Women's Project Theater) is among the five winners of an unprecedented new grant to support women artistic directors in professional theaters across the United States. The BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle, led by Carol Dunne, Producing Artistic Director of Northern Stage, will provide $1.25 million of support for Northern Stage and four other theaters run by female artistic directors during the 2018-2019 season. Each theater will receive a $250,000 grant.

The Old Globe today announced it will present the fifth annual Powers New Voices Festival, a weekend of readings of new American plays by professional playwrights, playing January 12 14, 2018. The festival will kick off today, January 12 at 7:30 p.m. with Voices of the Community: Celebrating Local Playwrights, an evening of work created by San Diego residents through the Globe's arts engagement initiatives Community Voices and coLAB, and will continue with four readings by some of the most exciting voices writing for the American theatre today. The new American play readings commence on Saturday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. with Laurel Ollstein's They Promised Her the Moon, directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Somewhere, The Whipping Man at the Globe), followed at 7:30 p.m. by Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jir h Breon Holder, directed by Patricia McGregor (Globe for All's Measure for Measure).The Festival continues on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. with The Tale of Despereaux, with book, music, and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co. The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Christian Camargo (Penny Dreadful, The Hurt Locker) has joined its West Coast Premiere of Martyna Majok's Ironbound, directed by Tyne Rafaeli (Actually).
