On Friday August 4, the Bard Music Festival returns with an intensive two-week exploration of “Vaughan Williams and His World.”

The Coronet Theatre's Autumn/Winter season is a presentation of multi-disciplinary modern stage-based art, with a spotlight on dance and movement related theatre forms, and an exceptional poetry strand. As always, the season offers inventive hybrid international work, showcasing performance from Europe to Asia. 

Battery Dance will celebrates the 42nd Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-18, 2023, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority. The 42nd Annual Battery Dance Festival will feature in-person and live-streamed performances staged each night at Rockefeller Park, Battery Park City, New York City at 7PM ET, with a rain date on 8/19.

Refracted Theatre Company has announced the cast and production team for TAMBO & BONES, Dave Harris's genre-defying play that transcends time and usurps cliché, directed by Mikael Burke. TAMBO & BONES runs October 12 - November 11, 2023, with previews October 5 - 8 at the Bookspan Theatre at The Den.

City of Spokane Parks & Recreation will continue the partnership with Spokane Shakespeare Society (S3) to bring Spokane Shakespeare in the Park to three parks this summer for family-friendly, free community performances. They will expand again this summer and present a weekend at Manito Park, Riverfront, and Sky Prairie.

The Hot Toddies recorded 11 fan-favorite, fun-loving tracks imbibing the high-and-not-so-dry spirits of the Prohibition Era. The album celebrates the sparkling array of swinging vocal and big band numbers inspired by the legendary singers and composers of the era, such as Duke Ellington, Billy Holiday, Count Basie, and more.

The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse presents The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). The production runs August 5 - Sept 3, 2023, and is directed by Charlie T. Thomas.

Following four intense concerts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House during the week including the electrifying final session held on Saturday 22nd July, pianist Jeonghwan Kim was announced the winner of the Ernest Hutcheson First Prize, receiving $50,000 cash.

Atmosphere, this CAESAR has aplenty. What David Melville’s production does not have this time is particularly strong acting. Players in several key roles felt miscast, out of synch with their own characters, with fellow players or, in some cases, both. As a result, the production is not great at making us emotionally invest.

William Shakespeare famously wrote extensively about places which he had never visited, so why shouldn’t composers do the same? Of the four pieces performed in this Spain-themed Prom, only one of the composers was Spanish - the rest were French, and at least one of them (namely Claude Debussy) had to rely on accounts of Spain from native dancers, artists, and musicians, as he had never set foot in the country.

Pearl Cleage’s Blues for an Alabama Sky, directed by Candis C. Jones (The Public Theater: shadow/land; Studio Theater: Clyde’s) is currently running at Barrington Stage Company. Barefoot Shakespeare Company will present Lady Capulet written by Melissa Bell and directed by Emily Gallagher. The production will be presented as part of the 2023 Little Shakespeare Festival at UNDER St. Marks (94 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10009) with performances on August 3 at 9pm and August 5 at 4pm and 9pm.

Drury Lane Theatre continues its 2023 season with a celebration of one of America’s great music icons in Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. Featuring the music of Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire was created by Richard Maltby, Jr., conceived by William Meade, is adapted from the Broadway production by Richard Maltby, Jr., and Jason Edwards, orchestrations by Steven Bishop and Jeff Lisenby and additional arrangements by David Abbinanti.
