A surprisingly contemporary tale of scandal, abuse of power, and the balance of justice and grace that arises when Vienna's Duke takes an unexplained leave of absence, leaving a power-hungry steward, Angelo, in his place. With a set of ruthless morality laws still in the books, Angelo uses them to his advantage, ultimately forcing a young nun into a terrible ultimatum: her soul for her brother's life.
TWELFTH NIGHT & RICHARD III Extend Broadway Run Through 2/16

The all-male Shakespeare's Globe repertory productions of William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III, which have broken the box office record at the Belasco Theatre and earned across the board ecstatic critical praise, will be extended by popular demand for an additional two weeks. The productions, which are directed by Tim Carroll and designed by Jenny Tiramani, with music by Claire van Kampen, will play through February 16, 2014 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) presents the famous and fun whodunit play The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie and directed by Paul Mason Barnes. Burning Coal Theatre Company will hold its second "Lobby Lecture" of the 2013/2014 season, "Rise of the Puppets", which will feature Cindy Shook of Blue Moon Puppets speaking on "The Rise of Puppetry as a Popular Art Form", in conjunction with its current production, (Three Man) Tempest by William Shakespeare. The event will take place at 6 pm on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 at Burning Coal Theatre, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Tickets are $5 or free to anyone holding a ticket to any performance of (Three Man) Tempest and may be obtained at the door only.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) production of William Shakespeare's RICHARD II with David Tennant in the title role opened last night to rave reviews. The production will be shown across the US and Canada from today, December 3, 2013 to January 2, 2014 as the premiere broadcast of 'Live from Stratford-upon Avon,' a program that will screen RSC productions from Shakespeare's home town around the world.

BWW Reviews: Trebuchet Players' HAMLET is Appealingly Eclectic

I can only imagine that one would be hard pressed to find someone who is not familiar with William Shakespeare's HAMLET. It is often produced in theatres and taught in many classrooms; however, this familiarity with the show doesn't make it any easier to being to life on stage. It is an ambitious undertaking, and not one that most companies would schedule as their second production. Yet, Houston's up and coming Trebuchet Players gleefully took the challenge head on and created a satisfying and eclectic production that springs to life with their unique brand of theatre magic.
John Walcutt Named New Producing Artistic Direcotr of Shakespeare Orange County

John Walcutt takes over as the new Producing Artistic Director of Shakespeare Orange County (formerly The Grove Shakespeare Festival), succeeding his Thomas F. Bradac, who has led it for 34 years. The festival, now called simply SOC, performs summers in the beautiful outdoor 540 seat Garden Grove Amphitheater in Garden Grove.
